The classic trench

Some time ago I realized that something had to change in my wardrobe, since I was never really excited about what I wore anymore (hence the total lack of outfit posts). It wasn't that I was tired of all the stuff I had, it mostly just lacked some glue to pull it all together. I decided that the time had come to finally give in to... basics.
I never used to care much about basics, but when I started paying more attention to them on the blogs I followed, I finally saw their potential. I still don't believe in "musthaves" because I feel everyone should wear what floats their sartorial boat, whether magazines blabber about it every season or not. I just feel like for me the time has come to steer away from impulse buys and start building a more consistent wardrobe. And since I'm all about comfort, versatility and effortlessness, basics are kinda up my street.

I felt like a basic trench coat was a good place to start for this season. In an ideal world, I would have gone for a Burberry Kensington, but since I'm on a very humble student budget, I had to settle for a high street alternative. This coat from Pull & Bear ticked all the boxes. It met my demands for colour, buttons, length, fabric quality and details, and for barely 50 euro's, that's so much more than I could wish for. Happy dance!
